A user-centric website to inform travelers

Evolving Web developed a new Drupal website for Yukon air travel, focusing on simplicity, accessibility, and government-business communication. The site highlights key airports like Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International, welcoming visitors and providing essential information for travelers and stakeholders.

The Yukon Aviation branch, part of the Department of Highways and Public Works, manages all 29 airports and aerodromes in the territory. It maintains infrastructure, oversees airport systems, and regulates air transportation. Air travel is crucial in Yukon, especially in winter, as many communities are accessible only by plane.

All aviation-related information in the Yukon was previously on the Yukon Government website. To better serve the needs of passengers and businesses, the Aviation branch decided to create a new website with a unique look and feel and information architecture, that is dedicated to information related to airports and aerodromes in the territory.
The main goal was to bring the user experience in line with websites for major airports. The website also needed to be built on a stable, easy-to-update content management system.

The website’s main focus is promoting Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (YKY), Yukon’s biggest and only international airport, as Yukon’s main port of entry and a fully functional, well-equipped airport for travelers planning to visit the territory.
Ket design features include:

The Yukon Airports website is a clean, efficient one-stop location for everything related to aviation in the territory. The user experience is essentially user-centric, intuitively delivering relevant information to passengers, partners, airport staff, and stakeholders. It also portrays Yukon as an attractive destination to which Erik Nielsen Airport is the main point of entry.
The visual direction is powerful yet simple, generating impact through bold typography and full-width images but always ensuring that content and users take the central stage.
