We reimagined the Hays Woodworking website to better reflect their craftsmanship, precision, and high-quality work through a visually rich, user-friendly experience.

Visual impact: Large, immersive imagery showcases the detail and quality of Hays’ work, drawing users in and encouraging them to reach out with project ideas.

Crafted for users: User research informed a more intuitive structure, while asymmetrical layouts and subtle movement echo the custom, design-forward nature of Hays’ work.

Precision in the details: Structural line elements and a sticky logo reinforce brand recognition and reflect the clean, intentional lines found in Hays’ woodworking.

Clean navigation: A streamlined layout makes it easy to explore services, view the portfolio, and understand what sets Hays apart.

CHALLENGES

Where every detail makes a difference

The previous Hays Woodworking website was outdated, making it difficult for users to access key information or appreciate the quality of Hays’ work. With a rich portfolio and hundreds of striking images, the redesign needed to highlight craftsmanship while maintaining fast load speeds across devices.

A key challenge was integrating the brand’s bold red and the organic, hand-drawn quality of the logo without overwhelming the visual focus on the work. We used the red subtly in hover states and typographic accents, while the logo’s organic elements were incorporated into select components, softening the structure while still maintaining the precision of the brand. This balance allowed us to reinforce Hays’ identity without detracting from the craftsmanship.

The site also served as the first visual rollout of Hays’ refreshed brand, establishing a strong creative direction and setting a foundation for future growth.
