An editorial approach
Evolving Web teamed up with SkilledTradesBC (formerly the Industry Training Authority of British Columbia), we unveiled a modern Drupal 9 site, replacing their old Drupal 7 platform. The design incorporates dynamic fonts, ample negative space, bold imagery, and impactful headlines for easy navigation. Vibrant colours reinforce branding, while clean layouts and user-centric elements ensure a smooth user experience.

SkilledTradesBC strives to improve British Columbia’s trades training system by partnering with various stakeholders, setting high training standards, supporting apprentices, funding programs, and promoting diverse trade careers. Their mission is to create a diverse and sustainable workforce in Canada by ensuring equitable access to skilled trades for British Columbians, enabling them to reach their full potential.
GOALS
Versatile & enticing
The project’s primary aim was to develop a fresh Drupal 9 website for SkilledTradesBC. The project’s key objectives comprised:
- Constructing a versatile Drupal 9 platform using pre-existing modules and customized components
- Migrating to cloud hosting through Pantheon
- Overhauling the website’s design to portray an enticing portrayal of trade careers
- Strategizing and designing content page consolidation to decrease the overall page count
- Revamping the sitemap and navigation for improved information accessibility
SOLUTIONS
Cool colours with hits of striking photography
With a new name, logo, and style guide, we seamlessly integrated their rebranding into the website design, introducing a fresh colour palette and updated photography to emphasize diversity and inclusivity.
Key design deliverables included:
- In-depth workshops to define technical and design requirements
- Collaboration with a brand agency to translate the style guide into website design
- A new visual identity with trade-inspired iconography
- A search feature with a pre-apprenticeship quiz
- Comparison tools for trades, including salary ranges and market demand
- Simplified processes for apprenticeship discovery, course enrollment, and exams
RESULTS
A refreshed digital presence
SkilledTradesBC has unveiled a revamped online presence, reinforcing their commitment to advancing equal access to skilled trades in British Columbia, one career at a time. The new website offers a user-friendly search and filtering system and boasts an attractive visual identity, exuding a professional and reader-friendly aesthetic reminiscent of a print magazine.
